Vista and Linux

Has anyone had any luck connetcing a Linux machine to Vista within the same subnet?
I have tried Suse 10, Federa Core 5 and Ununtu 6.06. even knowing the user name and password of the Vista machie, I can't get connetced.
thanks

What kind of connection? Are you using the LINUX samba as a PDS? I have a Mandrake 2006 box that is sharing a printer. I can see it on the network panel and attach the printer (have not printed successfully yet). I don't have any file shares setup right now, but plan on testing a USB Hard Disk shared from the Linux Server.

Are you using explorer to view the shares on the machines ? Can you view the shares on the Linux machine when you \\<linux_machine> in the explorer window ?
If you are using the command line - please post the output of this - net use \\linux_machine\share_name /user:<username> <prompts for the password> send the output of the command.
Are the machines in the same workgroup or are they on a domain ?
If
possible, a network capture with Netmon would be useful.
